Turn on access and sign in a phone

You do this once per phone, from your own parent app. Have your child’s phone nearby.

Open your child’s access

In the parent app, go to Family → Kids’ access and tap your child’s name.

Turn on what they get

Turn on Schedule, Snack bar, or both.

Tap Sign your child in on their phone

The button uses your child’s name, for example Sign Mia in on their phone. A QR code and a typed code appear, like K7Q-4MZ-X2P.

Sign in on your child’s phone

Either:

  • Have your child scan the QR code with their phone’s camera, or
  • On their phone, open the address shown under the code (it ends in /kid), type the code, and tap Sign in.

Capital letters, spaces, and dashes don’t matter when typing.

Done

The code disappears from your screen once the phone is signed in. Their phone now opens to their own screen.

About the code

  • It works once.
  • It lasts 10 minutes. The time left shows under the code.
  • Making a new code replaces the old one.

If your child sees “That code expired or was already used,” tap the button again for a new code.

More than one phone

Tap Sign in another phone to add a tablet or a second phone. Each child can be signed in on up to three. Signing in a fourth signs out the oldest one.

Adding it to an iPhone home screen

Your child can add their screen to their iPhone’s home screen so it opens like an app. After they add it, open it from the home screen and sign in with a new code once. It stays signed in from then on.

The phone stays signed in until you sign it out or turn off access. See Sign out a phone or turn off access.
