Attendance and makeupsOverview

Attendance and makeups

The roll is the list of students in one class on one day. You mark each student Here or Absent, or everyone at once. The roll updates live, so the front desk and an instructor on a phone can take it together.

Who’s on the roll

The roll for a day includes everyone who should be there that day:

  • Students enrolled in the class
  • Students booked for a trial that day
  • Students booked in for a makeup that day

Trial and makeup students are tagged so you can spot them. Allergies show in red under the student’s name.

How missed classes work

When a student misses a group class, Spotter tracks it until it’s settled with either a makeup (joining another class) or a credit on the family’s bill, never both. A class counts as missed when:

  • The student was marked Absent, or a parent reported the absence in the parent app
  • The class was cancelled that day
  • The studio was closed that day

Private lessons are different. Only sessions the studio cancels are made up. See Private lessons.

Who can do what. Everyone on staff can take attendance. Instructors can mark today only. Owners, admins, and front desk can also fix the last 14 days, book and cancel makeups, and give credits.
