Classes and scheduleCreate a class

Create a class

Create a class for each group that meets every week. For one-on-one lessons, duets, and trios, see Private lessons.

Only owners and admins can create and edit classes.

Open the class list

Go to Schedule and click the Classes tab. Click New class. Leave Group class selected.

Name it

Enter a Class name, like “Hip Hop 6-9”. Add a Program (like “Hip Hop”) and a Session (like “2026-2027”) if you group classes that way. Spotter suggests programs and sessions you’ve already used. Makeups offer classes in the same program first.

Pick the days and times

Click one or more Days, then set Starts and Ends.

Set the capacity

Enter how many students fit in Capacity. Leave it blank for no limit. When a class is full, new students go on the waitlist.

Set the dates (optional)

First class and Last class limit when the class meets. Leave them blank for a class that runs until you stop it. Before the first class, the class list shows Starts and the date. After the last, it shows Ended.

Add instructors and a room

Type the instructors’ names, separated by commas. The field uses your studio’s word, like Teachers or Coaches. If your studio has rooms set up, pick a Room. Spotter won’t let two active classes book the same room at overlapping times. Add a Description if you like.

Click Create class

Spotter opens the new class page.

Set the tuition

Monthly tuition is set on the Billing page under Monthly tuition, per student, per class. Trials and makeups aren’t charged. See Billing.

Edit a class

Open the class and click Edit class. You can change everything you set above. Set Status to Inactive to stop a class: it’s hidden from Today and from parents, and its families’ active status updates.

To change capacity, use the pencil next to Roster on the class page instead. That way a freed seat goes straight to the waitlist. A group class can’t be turned into a private lesson, or the other way around.

Set up rooms

Owners and admins add rooms in Settings → Rooms. Type a Room name and click Add room. Removing a room doesn’t stop any classes. They keep running with no room.
