Classes and schedule

A class is something that meets every week: a name, the days and times it meets, who teaches it, how many students fit, and an optional room and date range. Each time it meets is a meeting (a single class day). The roster is who’s enrolled.

Spotter uses your studio’s own words on screen, so a gym sees “coach” where a dance studio sees “teacher”. These docs say “student” and “instructor”.

Where to find them

Open Schedule in the sidebar. It has four views:

  • Day, Week, and Month show every meeting on the calendar, with cancellations, closures, and changes.
  • Classes is the list of every class, grouped by weekday, with how full each one is. Private lessons and duets have their own list at the bottom. Switch between Active and Inactive classes at the top.

Click a class to open its page: the schedule, the next few meetings, Take attendance, the roster, and the waitlist.

How the pieces fit

  • The weekly schedule comes from each class’s days, times, and first and last class dates.
  • A closure (a holiday or break) means no class meets that day.
  • A change affects one meeting only: cancel it, or give it a different time, a substitute, or another room.
  • A cancelled or closed meeting counts as missed for the students in it, so they can get a makeup or a credit. See Absences and makeups.
  • Tuition is set per class on the Billing page. See Billing.

Who can do what. Owners and admins create and edit classes, add closures, and set up rooms. Front desk enroll, drop, and move students, book trials, run the waitlist, and cancel or change single meetings. Instructors see classes, rosters, and the schedule, and take attendance.
