Take attendance
Take roll at the start of class. It takes a tap per student, and every device sees the marks right away.
Open the roll
Any of these work:
- On Today, click Check in next to the class.
- On the class page, click Take attendance.
- On the Schedule, click the class, then Attendance.
Mark students
Tap Here or Absent next to each student. Tap the same button again to clear the mark.
Or mark everyone at once
Click Mark everyone here. If you’ve already marked some students, it says Mark the other and the number left. It marks only the students without a mark, so absences stay. When everyone is marked here, it shows All here.
The top of the roll shows the count, like “12 of 14 here · 2 absent”.
What you’ll see on the roll
- Trial and makeup tags on students who are only there that day.
- Allergies in red under the student’s name.
- Reported by parent, with the parent’s note, when a family told the studio ahead of time in the parent app. These students are already marked absent.
- For owners, admins, and front desk: Book a makeup under an absent student, or Makeup booked once one is. See Absences and makeups.
- A note at the top when the day was cancelled, the studio was closed, or the class was changed for that day (like a substitute or a different time).
Fix an earlier day
Use the arrows at the top of the roll to go back a day. You can’t take attendance for a future date.
Instructors can mark today only. Owners, admins, and front desk can correct attendance for the last 14 days. If you can’t change a day, the roll says “You can view this day but not change it.” Cancelled and closed days can’t be marked.
The class page also lists the last few class days with how many were here and absent. Click one to open that day’s roll.
Absence emails
If A child is marked absent is on in Settings → Family emails, Spotter emails the family when a student is marked absent today. The email goes out 10 minutes later, and only if the student is still marked absent, so a mis-tap you fix right away sends nothing. It isn’t sent when the parent reported the absence themselves.
